Lot 11a: Lot #11 Mulegeta Sintayehu

The Sintayehu family has deep roots in the Halo Hartume kebele, Gedeb. In 1981, Mulugeta was born into a family of coffee farmers. As the 6th child of the Sintayehu’s, Mebratu started to help at the farm. At the year of 22, it was time for Mebratu to stand on own two feet. His father gave him 2,5 hectares so that he could start farming. He then found a wife and started a family. Today he is the proud father of four children.

Mebratu wants to carry on his father’s legacy, and eventually give his land to his children; so that they can continue the Sintayehu family’s legacy. For next year, he plans to get a license and to start exporting. For a lot of growers, this is a way to sell their coffees for higher prices and it gives them radar to be recognized by international buyers, such as Trabocca.
